Job Summary

Emory Healthcare is seeking a skilled Clinical Documentation Specialist to provide clinically based concurrent and retrospective review of inpatient medical records. The successful candidate will evaluate the documentation of patient acuity and support acute care services delivered by physicians.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct concurrent and retrospective review of inpatient medical records to ensure accurate documentation of patient care.
  • Evaluate physician documentation to ensure it accurately reflects patient severity of illness and risk of mortality.
  • Support acute care services by providing clinically based review of medical records.
  • Collaborate with external payers and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with documentation requirements.
  • Contribute to quality of care outcomes by providing accurate and compliant documentation for billing purposes.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing or United States or International School of Medicine Education.
  • Active RN license required for RNs.
  • Valid, active license or temporary permit approved by the Georgia Licensing Board required for all nurses.
  • Three years' experience in a healthcare-related field with strong clinical expertise and acumen.
  • Recent clinical experience in an acute care setting preferred.
