The Alaska State Troopers are seeking a Financial Operations Specialist to contribute to our mission of ensuring public safety and service.

Position Overview:
This role involves managing financial aspects of capital projects in alignment with the agency's objectives.

Key responsibilities include processing funding documentation, conducting reviews and reconciliations of project expenses upon completion, entering project data and financial transactions into the Integrated Resource Information System (IRIS), and generating financial reports using the Alaska Data Enterprise Reporting System (ALDER).


Candidate Profile:

Essential Competencies:

Financial Management:

Proficient understanding of general ledger accounting, including control and subsidiary account relationships, as well as reconciliation methods for accounts receivable, accounts payable, and disbursement accountability.


Detail Orientation:
Demonstrates thoroughness in work processes and a strong commitment to accuracy.

Communication Skills:

Effectively conveys information, tailoring communication to the audience and context; delivers clear and persuasive presentations, and actively listens to others.


Accounting Principles:

Solid knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, standards, and practices, including the complete accounting cycle and preparation of financial documents such as worksheets, statements, ledgers, and journals.


Minimum Qualifications:
Financial Operations Specialist

One year of clerical experience involving record maintenance, computer systems usage, and basic arithmetic calculations.
Advanced Financial Operations Specialist

One year of entry-level technical accounting or bookkeeping experience.
Senior Financial Operations Specialist


Two years of technical accounting or bookkeeping experience, with at least one year at a full-proficiency level.
