Job Title: Senior Manager Sales and Use Tax Audit

At Verizon Communications, we're looking for a highly skilled Senior Manager to lead our sales and use tax audit team. As a key member of our tax department, you'll be responsible for managing an inventory of sales/use and gross receipts tax audits of select Verizon entities and associated reserves.

This role requires a strong understanding of transaction tax laws, audit acumen, and the ability to negotiate and advocate favorable outcomes. You'll work closely with other tax groups to ensure the company resolves tax audits favorably and develop strategies to minimize tax liabilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage an inventory of sales/use and gross receipts tax audits of select Verizon entities and associated reserves
  • Develop strategies to minimize tax liabilities and negotiate favorable audit settlements
  • Work closely with other tax groups to ensure the company resolves tax audits favorably
  • Calculate, establish, and monitor FAS 5 Reserves for Contingent Gains and Losses related to audits assigned
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of relevant work experience
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and/or Google Suites
  • Even better if you have one or more of the following:
    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Analytics/Business Intelligence or related discipline
    • Experience with sales/use and gross receipts tax with a proven record of effectively dealing with transaction tax audits
    • Experience with digital automation and data visualization technology (e.g., Alteryx, QLIK)
    • An advanced degree in Law, Accounting, Taxation, Finance, Management Information Systems, or Computer Science
