Job Title: Assistant Controller

At American Track, we are seeking a highly experienced Assistant Controller to assist the Corporate Controller in directing the organization's accounting functions, including receivables, payables, intercompany consolidation, and reporting. This role oversees the preparation of periodic reporting and ensures that all corporate and required accounting policies and procedures are documented and followed by the organization.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the operations of the Accounting Department, including receivables, payables, intercompany consolidation, and reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and controls as defined by the Controller and CFO and according to accounting standards, state and federal regulations, and tax laws.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements in compliance with company policies and GAAP.
  • Prepare various financial reports on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis, or upon request.
  • Assist with cash flow management, accounts payable, receivable, and payroll.
  • Manage fixed assets and leases in compliance with ASC 842.
  • Analyze financial data and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Provide financial insights to support decision-making processes.
  • Assist in maintaining appropriate internal controls over financial reporting.
  • Prepare for audits and coordinate with auditors during annual audits and provide necessary information and responses.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts and resolve discrepancies.
  • Manage the month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Participate in hiring junior staff members, including recruiting, interviewing, and selection of talent.
  • Supervise daily activities and organize workload of junior accounting staff members.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Train and mentor accounting staff, providing valuable feedback for performance.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • CPA certification designation, preferred.
  • 5-7 years previous work experience in accounting or financial management roles.
  • Experience in public accounting.
  • Previous work experience in accounting software, CMiC preferred.
Skills and Knowledge:
  • Advanced knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting principles.
  • Strong analytical skills and interpretation of data, trends, and insights.
  • Advanced Excel skills and other Microsoft Office suite software.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and present financial information to stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to resolve accounting issues and improve financial processes.
  • Understanding of financial risk management principles to mitigate potential risks.
