Job Overview

As a crucial member of our fabrication team, you will engage in various levels of work within the aircraft float fabrication process, tailored to your experience. With training and growth opportunities, you may advance to a Senior Fabricator role. This position does not involve welding.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Assist in the fabrication and assembly of aircraft floats under the supervision of seasoned fabricators.
  2. Shape materials to conform to blueprint specifications or sample components, adhering to provided instructions.
  3. Utilize equipment and standard hand tools to manufacture and assemble parts effectively.
  4. Conduct inspections of all components for cleanliness and defects.
  5. Communicate work status, workload, challenges, and progress to the Production Supervisor.
  6. Log time in ERP software and validate work orders for each assembly process.
  7. Adhere to procedures that ensure compliance with FAA regulations.

For Senior Fabricators, additional responsibilities include:

  1. Selecting suitable raw materials and prefabricated components for moderately complex fabrication and assembly tasks, ensuring adherence to industry and company standards while mentoring less experienced colleagues.
  2. Interpreting specifications, drawings, and sample parts to determine necessary machine adjustments and material processing requirements.
  3. Identifying and executing processes essential for fabrication and assembly.
  4. Inspecting all components and assemblies for cleanliness and conformity, and notifying the Production Supervisor of any non-conformities for corrective action.
  5. Maintaining traceability of materials and parts allocated to jobs, returning unused materials following proper procedures.
  6. Following engineering drawings and specifications to install, connect, or bond aircraft components using adhesives, rivets, or threaded fasteners.
  7. Preparing and utilizing jigs or fixtures to assist in locating, bonding, or drilling aircraft parts.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED preferred; for Senior level, a technical diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Prior experience in assembly and fabrication is preferred; for Senior level, a minimum of three years of related experience is strongly preferred.
  • Proficient in using hand tools and performing common metal shop tasks.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds frequently, up to 25 pounds regularly, and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
  • Exhibit manual dexterity and proficiency with hand tools, including files, hammers, snips, and power tools such as sanders, drills, riveters, and grinders.
  • Effective communication skills in English, both oral and written, to interact with individuals inside and outside the organization.
  • Ability to navigate the plant area repeatedly throughout the day.
  • Physical capability to stand, walk, and use hands to manipulate objects, tools, or controls.
  • Ability to reach with hands and arms and perform movements such as stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
  • Close vision to inspect small parts and review detailed information, along with peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Basic arithmetic skills using various units of measure, including decimals and fractions.
  • Ability to comprehend and execute written or verbal instructions, managing problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Willingness to learn the safe and proper use of tools and equipment necessary for assigned tasks.
  • Commitment to conforming to applicable FAA and other regulatory requirements in all aspects of work.
  • Ability to work effectively as a proactive team player, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in work duties while maintaining a positive approach.
