Job Overview
POSITION SUMMARY

The Wipaire/FireBoss Aviation Maintenance Specialist plays a crucial role in the support of the installation, evaluation, repair, and upkeep of the Wipaire and FireBoss aircraft lines. This position encompasses the following responsibilities:

- Providing field assistance

- Educating authorized installation and service teams

- Collaborating with Engineering to enhance existing products and develop new solutions

- Participating in trade exhibitions, operator conferences, and sales initiatives through necessary travel

- Engaging in travel, both domestically and internationally, which is projected to average around 10%. However, this may increase to 50% during peak training seasons, typically from February to May. Travel may occur on short notice for urgent support or emergency situations.

- Performing general office tasks, including documentation of maintenance, repair, or installation protocols, engineering change requests, and record management.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. General maintenance and support duties
  • Act as the technical point-of-contact for Wipaire product installations
  • Supervise and guide teams assigned to various Wipaire and FireBoss installation and maintenance projects as needed offsite
  • Ensure adherence to quality control measures set by Wipaire QA
  • Complete associated logbook documentation
Training on Wipaire and FireBoss products
  • Develop and maintain training syllabi and materials
  • Organize and schedule training sessions as required
  • Conduct training for Wipaire mechanics, Service Center mechanics, and other customer mechanics as directed
  • Assess trainees based on FAR requirements, their performance, and their ability to safely install, troubleshoot, and repair Wipaire and FireBoss products
  • Mentor and train others, setting a standard of professionalism and conduct.
Assist with technical support inquiries
  • Respond to technical support inquiries via phone, email, etc. as needed
  • Collaborate with Wipaire Data & Product Service team (D&PS), Wipaire Technical Support team, and other support personnel to resolve customer issues
  • Travel to customer locations to provide on-site support as necessary
Qualifications and Skills
Education, Experience, and Credentials
  • Four to ten years of relevant experience in general aviation aircraft maintenance preferred.
  • Prior experience with FireBoss aircraft is advantageous.
  • FAA Airframe & Power Plant (A & P) Certificate is mandatory. IA designation is preferred.
  • A two-year Technical or Trade School degree is preferred.
  • Proficiency in additional languages, particularly Spanish, is a plus but not required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Possesses expert knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, repair processes, and part replacements.
  • Demonstrates expertise in aircraft sheet metal/structural modifications and repairs, as well as electrical theory.
  • Maintains proficiency with specialized aircraft tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, and sheet metal tools.
  • Understands FAA certification processes, including parts, manufacturing, repair processes, drawings, and compliance requirements.
  • Capable of planning, developing, and implementing a preventive maintenance schedule for each aircraft, monitoring wear and aging of parts and systems, and documenting activities.
  • Adheres to FAA regulatory and safety standards in all work aspects.
  • Proficient in computer applications, including MS Office, and able to learn and utilize manufacturer-specific software and Wipaire software packages.
  • Demonstrates strong organizational skills, able to prioritize and manage work in a fast-paced environment, work independently, and solve problems effectively.
  • Utilizes logic and reasoning to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of various solutions and approaches to problems.
  • Exhibits attention to detail and the ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Provides exceptional customer service, responding promptly and thoroughly to inquiries from both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Capable of lifting supplies and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Effective verbal communication skills in English, including the ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to stand, squat, reach, kneel, bend, and twist for extended periods, performing long hours of work in the shop and hangar while maintaining aircraft.
  • Demonstrates manual dexterity and visual acuity for operating hand tools, power tools, and other equipment used in maintenance duties.
  • Willingness to travel nationally and potentially internationally as directed by management. Must be able to obtain and maintain a United States passport.
  • Must possess all required tools as outlined in the Wipaire minimum required tool list within 90 days of employment.
  • Comply with drug testing requirements in accordance with federal regulations.
