Job Summary:
The role involves applying coatings to walls, machinery, buildings, and various structural surfaces using a variety of tools including brushes, rollers, and spray guns. Responsibilities may include preparing surfaces by removing old paint and mixing colors or oils to achieve the desired finish.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Protect surfaces during painting by using drop cloths, masking tape, and paper.

2. Select and mix coating additives to enhance drying and adhesion properties.

3. Fill cracks, holes, and joints with appropriate fillers using caulking guns or putty knives.

4. Utilize high-pressure sandblasting equipment and other tools to eliminate rust, grease, dirt, and old paint prior to application.

5. Apply primers or sealers to prepare various surfaces, including wood, metal, and equipment for finishing coats.

6. Choose paint in accordance with company color specifications.

7. Apply paint, stain, varnish, and other finishes to structures and equipment using various application methods.

8. Calculate material requirements and estimate costs based on surface measurements and work orders.

9. Read work orders or receive instructions to determine job requirements.

10. Disassemble and clean painting and sandblasting equipment using appropriate solvents and tools.

11. Set up scaffolding and ladders for elevated work.

12. Remove fixtures such as pictures and switch covers before painting.

13. Treat surfaces with necessary preparations to ensure proper adhesion of finishes.

14. Mix and match colors of paint and additives to achieve desired results.

15. Adhere to safety and project regulations throughout the work process.

16. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
- Relevant craft certification or equivalent experience.

- Minimum of 6 months documented experience at Helper 3 level in the relevant craft discipline.

- Ability to interpret instructions and perform work activities independently.

- Familiarity with common concepts, practices, and procedures in the field.

- Dependence on established guidelines to execute job functions.

- Typically works under direct supervision.

- Knowledge of application techniques and precision standards.

- Ability to apply mathematical concepts to solve practical problems.

- Capable of visualizing objects in three dimensions from plans and drawings.

- Comfortable working at heights.
