Position Overview

The Coating Operations Specialist will be engaged in the operation of a coating line, performing tasks across various workstations such as face unwind, liner unwind, main console/winder, and PMA lab. Proficiency in multiple coating assets within the facility is expected. The specialist will oversee the daily functioning of the coater, including routine operations, machine setups, changeovers, troubleshooting, coordinating preventive maintenance, and making informed decisions regarding machine adjustments.

Shift Details: Night shift (7:00 p.m. - 7:00 a.m.) on a 2-2-3 schedule.

Compensation: Starting hiring rate of $27.29/hr plus an additional $2/hr shift differential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure adherence to all environmental, health, and safety regulations, policies, and practices.
  • Maintain a secure working environment for all personnel, promptly identifying and escalating safety concerns. Support initiatives aimed at enhancing safety.
  • Load raw materials into machinery and unload finished products.
  • Conduct routine tests and inspections of products for various characteristics using standard measuring instruments, making judgments against non-quantifiable standards.
  • Meet production timelines and optimize production sequences for maximum efficiency.
  • Follow established operating procedures and guidelines from senior technical staff, monitoring equipment controls to ensure compliance with production specifications.
  • Maintain accurate logs and records of production and equipment performance.
  • Engage in team-based problem-solving and continuous improvement efforts, supporting initiatives to enhance manufacturing performance.
  • Lead shift transition discussions, communicate daily priorities to the team, and ensure MDI boards are updated. Collaborate with team members to achieve departmental and site objectives.
  • Accountable for daily production maintenance, preventive maintenance, and housekeeping tasks in accordance with established standards.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) or 3+ years of relevant manufacturing experience.
  • Prioritize safety as a core value; must be willing and able to work safely and consistently wear personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Exhibit a strong focus on quality and service.
  • Possess good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to read and understand documents related to product manufacturing.
  • Capable of working independently as well as in a team-oriented environment.
  • Willing to work during designated hours and accept reasonable overtime, including weekends.
  • Demonstrated initiative, integrity, and sound judgment.
  • Proven record of engaging with daily ELS processes and tools such as MDI, standard work, and 5S.
  • Maintain a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and reliability.
  • Proficient in computer applications, particularly with ERP systems.
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds periodically throughout the shift.

Preferred:

  • Two years of experience in a skilled labor position with demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
  • Two years of experience in a Coating Department.
