Position Overview
The Patient Services Coordinator plays a crucial role in ensuring smooth operations within the healthcare facility. This position involves engaging with patients, healthcare professionals, and various team members to provide accurate and timely information, thereby enhancing patient care.
Key Responsibilities
Administrative Duties
- Manage patient appointment scheduling through phone interactions and in-person checkouts, ensuring all necessary demographic and insurance information is collected and verified.
- Welcome patients upon arrival, facilitating the check-in process by confirming personal and insurance details, and processing necessary documentation.
- Conduct patient check-out procedures, including providing clinical summaries, scheduling follow-up appointments, and sharing information about the patient portal.
- Handle incoming calls, directing inquiries and messages to the appropriate staff members.
- Ensure patients are escorted to appropriate rooms for consultations and discussions regarding their medical records.
- Perform essential bookkeeping tasks, including managing financial records, processing payments, and preparing invoices.
- Accurately balance cash and credit card transactions at the end of each clinic session.
- Collect co-payments and outstanding patient balances.
- Verify insurance coverage and assess patient financial responsibilities.
- Prepare invoices for medical records and ensure timely collection of payments.
Educational Background
- Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Preferred: One-year certificate from a college or technical school.
- Minimum of three to six months of relevant experience or training in a healthcare setting.
- Exhibit professionalism and ethical behavior while interacting with patients and team members.
- Demonstrate effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present information clearly.
- Possess strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Adapt to changing environments and maintain a focus on delivering high-quality patient service.
This role is performed in a typical office environment, with moderate noise levels and standard office equipment.
