Job Overview:

This pivotal role involves developing and implementing strategic plans to advance ICI's legislative and policy objectives at the state level. You will provide critical guidance to senior management and represent ICI before state officials, ensuring effective representation of our members' interests.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and execute statewide policy initiatives, fostering strong relationships with state officials and organizations.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of financial services issues, federal legislation, and public policy concerns impacting ICI and its membership.
  • Advocate on behalf of ICI and its member companies, navigating complex state legislative and regulatory environments.
  • Evaluate potential legislation and offer informed recommendations to senior management, promoting the best interests of our members.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including Governors' Offices, State Legislators, and Attorneys General.
  • Promote collaboration across ICI departments to drive our legislative agenda forward and achieve our objectives.
  • Identify areas where outside expertise can support our state-level advocacy efforts, ensuring we remain competitive in the industry.
  • Foster partnerships with like-minded organizations to amplify our impact and influence policy decisions.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and 5-7 years of experience in state lobbying, consulting, or a similar role.
  • Strong networks within Republican and Democratic-led states, including legislative bodies.
  • A proven track record of achieving success through state-level advocacy.
  • Proficiency in consulting or government affairs, with a solid understanding of state legislative and regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience working with state officials, including Governors, State Legislators, and Attorneys General, on financial services issues.
  • Ability to work effectively with a cross-functional team of professionals.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proven strategic thinking and planning abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, allowing you to thrive in fast-paced environments.
