Policy Advocacy Director

The ACLU of DC is a non-partisan, non-profit public interest organization dedicated to protecting the civil rights and liberties of those living and working in Washington D.C. Our mission is to advocate for the rights of all individuals, regardless of their background or identity.
Responsibilities
As a Supervising Policy Counsel, you will be responsible for supervising 2-3 Policy Advocacy Department staff members and supporting the Policy Advocacy Director in overseeing internship and fellowship programs. You will also lead the development of legislative and advocacy strategies, conduct research and analysis, and represent the ACLU of DC in trainings, coalitions, and meetings with government officials.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school or a graduate degree in Public Policy or a related field. You must have at least 5 years of relevant work experience, including 3 years of strategic leadership or co-leadership of legislative or issue-based campaigns. Additionally, you should have a strong understanding of the legislative process, policy analysis, and advocacy strategies. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Drive, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram is also required.
Benefits
The salary range for this position is $110,000 to $135,000, based on individual experience and abilities. Excellent benefits include paid time off, generous paid holidays, medical, dental, and vision insurance, and a 401K plan with employer matching.
