We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Digital Advocacy Specialist to join our team at Public Citizen. This is an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge campaigns related to artificial intelligence (AI), privacy, data, and competition in the Big Tech arena.

About the Role

The successful candidate will work closely with our Co-Presidents, Congress Watch Director, and Managing Director to develop and implement strategy for Big Tech accountability, focusing on AI, technology products, market power, and online platform oversight. They will also collaborate with our privacy and digital rights coalitions to implement strategic plans for Hill work, communications, and grassroots engagement.

  • Develop and execute research-based reports, articles, and fact sheets for distribution to the media, policymakers, and advocacy groups.
  • Draft and submit petitions, letters, and testimony to federal agencies and policy makers, as well as maintain follow-up efforts.
  • Collaborate with our Communications Department to execute social media and traditional media outreach plans.
  • Prepare campaign-related materials, such as action alerts, toolkits, and campaign initiatives, in collaboration with our digital team.
About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A college degree, with a master's or legal degree preferred.
  • 5-10 years of relevant research, advocacy, or technology experience, with a preference for those with specific expertise on AI and/or Big Tech platforms.
  • Exceptional analytical, research, and written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience working with social media and online communications.
  • Able to work effectively in coalitions and networks.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, respond to short-term deadlines, and balance multiple responsibilities.

We offer a competitive salary between $76,598 - $127,060, along with a generous benefit package that includes:
