Overview:

The role involves executing various technical responsibilities to ensure adherence to engineering construction standards for both public and private sector projects. The inspector will monitor work progress associated with development and enhancement initiatives, with a specific focus on stormwater compliance and maintenance.

Supervision:

This position operates under the general oversight of the New Development Manager.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct regular inspections of public infrastructure and construction methodologies.
  • Engage in pre-construction discussions.
  • Authorize work progress and issue notifications as necessary.
  • Perform final inspections upon project completion.
  • Maintain comprehensive project records and documentation.
  • Address construction-related issues.
  • Monitor activities within public right-of-ways.
  • Compile and analyze statistical data.
  • Conduct inspections for risk management purposes.
  • Collaborate with the Stormwater Coordinator.
  • Assist in the development of stormwater management strategies.
  • Inspect existing Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP) citywide for compliance.
  • Investigate complaints and provide recommendations.
Qualifications:

Education and Experience:
A high school diploma, supplemented by two years of specialized training in engineering methods and practices, along with two years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Proficient understanding of civil engineering practices, effective communication skills, ability to interpret technical plans, and capacity to build professional relationships. Must be capable of managing various physical tasks and willing to travel frequently.

Special Requirements:
A valid Utah driver's license is required. Certification as a Public Works Inspector is preferred.

Work Environment:
This position requires frequent physical activity. Mental demands include memory retention, emotional stability, and analytical reasoning. Regular travel is anticipated.
