Job Overview

POSITION: COMMUNITY SERVICE AIDE (CSA) PART-TIME

COMPENSATION: $13.00 per hour


SECTION I - POSITION SUMMARY


OVERVIEW:

Under the guidance of the Clinic Supervisor or designated personnel, the Community Service Aide performs a variety of essential tasks as assigned. Responsibilities encompass reception duties, clerical tasks, income assessments, certification responsibilities, executing laboratory procedures, and facilitating educational sessions for participants.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


  1. Accurately record all hours worked.
  2. Report directly to the designated Clinic Supervisor.
  3. Welcome clients with a smile, answer phone inquiries, and clarify procedures.
  4. Comply with local and state health policies and regulations.
  5. Evaluate income and residency to determine eligibility based on established guidelines.
  6. Stay informed about immunization policies and refer clients as necessary.
  7. Review immunization records to assess immunization status.
  8. Document dietary intake when required.
  9. Measure and record weight and height according to established protocols.
  10. Conduct hemoglobin testing to obtain necessary health values.
  11. Direct clients to relevant agencies and programs for additional support.
  12. Lead basic nutrition education sessions for women, infants, and children.
  13. Adhere to ethical standards in Client Centered Nutrition Education.
  14. Manage data entry, appointment scheduling, and benefit issuance using the TXIN system.
  15. Encourage and support breastfeeding initiatives.
  16. Possess knowledge of breast pump operation and maintenance.
  17. Conduct home visits for participants as directed.
  18. Travel to various clinic locations as required.
  19. Deliver services in a professional manner and foster relationships with community organizations.
  20. Maintain current immunization guidelines as mandated.
  21. Ensure no financial conflicts of interest exist with the program.
  22. Perform other duties as assigned.

SECTION II - POSITION REQUIREMENTS


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

A high school diploma or equivalent is required.


SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Effective verbal and written communication skills are essential.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

A valid Texas Driver's License is necessary, along with compliance with state driving laws and maintenance of a satisfactory driving record. Reliable transportation is required. Employees may be called to work during emergencies or extended hours, including weekends. A criminal background check is mandatory for employment.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be in good health and physical condition to perform the duties of the position effectively. If assistance is needed, it must be requested prior to undertaking tasks.

SECTION III - POSITION DIMENSIONS


CONTACTS:

EXTERNAL CONTACTS:

Occasional interactions with health, social, and educational agencies, as well as frequent contact with clinic clients. Communication occurs through phone, written correspondence, and face-to-face interactions.

INTERNAL CONTACTS:

Utilize tact in communications with county employees and service providers regarding operational matters. Regular interactions with county personnel are expected.


RESPONSIBILITY:

Adhere to local health department regulations and maintain client confidentiality, except as required for investigations or legal proceedings.


DIFFICULTY:

Judgment is necessary to complete assigned tasks effectively. Discretion is essential to achieve work objectives.


GUIDANCE:

Guidance will be provided by the immediate supervisor or designated personnel. It is the employee's responsibility to maintain communication with their supervisor.


WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work primarily occurs in a clinic, office, or community center environment.
