Key Responsibilities of the Substance Abuse Program Supervisor:
  • Delivering clinical oversight to staff responsible for providing services to individuals with mental health and/or substance use disorders.
  • Monitoring client services and ensuring adherence to established program standards and service delivery goals.
  • Conducting audits of client records.
  • Assisting in the recruitment, selection, evaluation, scheduling, and disciplinary actions of assigned staff.
  • Orienting and training new staff members.
  • Acting as a resource for assigned staff in identifying and resolving complex case issues.
  • Managing a client caseload in response to workload or staffing shortages.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.
  • Supervising assigned staff in hospital environments as part of a federal grant initiative.
Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or a closely related field is required; (Master's degree preferred)
  • Current certification as a substance abuse counselor (CADC) or higher licensure (LPC, LSW) in the state of employment is required; (LCPC, LCSW preferred)
  • 3 to 5 years of clinical experience in substance abuse treatment, including at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
  • Relevant work experience with specific populations (adolescent/adult) and in residential treatment settings is required.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to walk and navigate the facilities for up to two hours at a time to monitor and engage with clients.
  • Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
  • Ability to record, proofread, and verify documents and files for accuracy, as well as prepare and analyze data and figures.
  • Ability to utilize a keyboard and video display terminal to receive, retrieve, and/or audit information and data.
  • Ability to respond to telephones and to hear and detect alarms and unusual sounds.
