Position Overview

The Mental Health Association - Western MA is seeking a dedicated Bilingual Recovery Coach. This role is essential in assisting individuals requiring substance use services to achieve independence within their communities. The Recovery Coach collaborates within the Agency's team framework, fostering open communication, support, and accountability among colleagues while adhering to MHA's Core Values: Respect, Integrity, and Compassion.

Key Responsibilities

The Recovery Coach brings a unique viewpoint and relevant skills to the integrated treatment team, utilizing personal experience in the recovery journey. This individual effectively communicates this perspective to clients, advocating for their needs in the development of personalized action plans and tailored programs.

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Possession of a valid driver's license, adequate automobile insurance, and a safe, reliable vehicle for work purposes.
  • Ability to work autonomously, manage time efficiently, prioritize tasks, take initiative, and collaborate effectively as part of a team.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, along with proficiency in computer and organizational tasks.
  • Capacity to adapt to the evolving needs of program participants.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, characterized by patience, empathy, and compassion.
  • A cheerful and outgoing demeanor.
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain respectful and collaborative relationships.
  • Minimum age requirement of twenty-one years.
  • Ability to perform effectively under pressure and during crises.
  • Familiarity with local community resources.

Qualifications

  • Personal experience with psychiatric conditions, extreme states, substance use, and/or trauma.
  • Previous experience in advocacy or peer support roles is preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) is required.
  • Certification as a Recovery Coach is preferred.
