Key Responsibilities- Supervision and Leadership
- Directly supervise and educate a team of residential support specialists, promoting a strength-based approach that fosters growth and opportunity.
- Assist staff in processing challenges and supporting residents in engaging in daily needs, while monitoring physical well-being and delivering services.
- Support staff through regular supervision meetings, monitoring attendance, and assisting the program supervisor in following up with staff who are not meeting standards.
- Collaborate with the program supervisor to ensure goals and objectives are communicated effectively throughout the program.
- Assist with staff evaluations, trainings, guidance, and feedback.
- Administrative Duties
- Monitor compliance of all documentation, including contact notes, rehabilitation notes, medication administration documentation, daily logs, and Individual Action Plans.
- Respond promptly to medical and psychiatric emergencies, notifying the supervisor within specified time limits.
- Support the program supervisor in ensuring smooth communication between disciplines involved in supporting participants.
- Attend workshops and training programs to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Participant Support and Advocacy
- Engage, educate, and empower participants to access community-based resources, promoting self-determination, rehabilitation, and recovery.
- Act as a role-model/teacher, participating in activities of daily living (ADLs) as a teaching tool.
- Empower participants by teaching self-advocacy skills, acting as a liaison with hospitals, clinics, medical personnel, family members, and other providers.
- Support participants in activities of daily living (ADLs), such as personal hygiene, upkeep of personal living space, laundry, cooking/nutrition, and establishing healthy lifestyle habits.
- Support participants in accessing educational opportunities, understanding and accessing benefits and resources, and managing money.
- Work with the team to achieve the common vision of community-based flexible supports, demonstrating professionalism, organization, and good interpersonal skills.
- Include participants in all household tasks, ensuring tasks are completed regularly and maintaining a high level of cleanliness and safety.
- Provide transportation to participants, ensuring they can address their needs, and complete MHA's Driver Awareness training and van driver training as applicable.
- Regularly utilize online agency reporting systems, internet-based applications, and electronic health records systems, attending training to strengthen or gain new computer skills as necessary.
- Facilitate psycho-educational groups and weekly house meetings, practicing constant professionalism and maintaining boundaries.
- Participant Health and Wellbeing
- Utilize a strengths-based and trauma-informed approach to empower participants to identify their hopes, dreams, and goals, collaborating with the multi-disciplinary support team.
- Identify opportunities to support participants in recognizing triggers to pre-crisis behaviors/symptoms, supporting them in managing triggers to avoid crisis situations.
- Respond immediately to pre-crisis/crisis or medical events, following safety plans for those who have them, and keeping supervisory personnel informed.
- Adjust and adapt the level of support to varying needs of participants, performing other similar or related duties as assigned or as necessary.
- Report any incidents of participant abuse or act of omission/neglect to agency management, the Disabled Person's Protection Commission DPPC, or elder abuse hotline as applicable.
- Administer medications in accordance with MAP standards and guidelines.
- Teamwork, Communications, Cooperation, and Continuous Learning
- Regularly attend and actively participate in team meetings, supervision meetings, and other scheduled meetings, attending agency-mandated training and maintaining required certifications.
- Maintain and foster a team atmosphere with colleagues and supervisor, prioritizing participant needs.
- Use constructive supervisor feedback to grow and enhance professional skills.
- Attend various workshops and training programs.
