Job Overview

The Vermont Attorney General's Office is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Attorney General to join the Environmental Protection Unit. This unit is part of the Environmental and Public Protection Division and focuses on providing legal services to the Agency of Agriculture, Food and Markets.

The selected individual will work closely with staff and other attorneys at the Agency to provide legal services, including representing the Agency in civil litigation, providing advice on grants and contracts, and working on a wide range of issues involving agriculture and related industries.

Key Responsibilities
  • Represent the Agency in civil litigation, including enforcement actions
  • Provide advice on grants and contracts
  • Work on issues involving agriculture and related industries, including food safety, water quality, agricultural development, animal and plant health, environmental protection, and more
Requirements

Must be a member in good standing of the Vermont bar or be eligible to be admitted. A minimum of five years relevant litigation, client counseling, and administrative, agricultural, or environmental law experience is required. Excellent legal writing and analysis, top-notch communication skills, excellent time management, and the ability to work collaboratively with other lawyers and staff are also essential.
