Job Overview

The Vermont Attorney General's Office is seeking a highly skilled and experienced attorney to join its Environmental Protection Unit. The selected individual will work closely with staff and other attorneys at the Agency of Agriculture, Food and Markets to provide legal services and represent the Agency in civil litigation, including enforcement actions.

Key Responsibilities

The Assistant Attorney General will be responsible for providing legal advice on grants and contracts, working on a wide range of issues involving agriculture and related industries, including food safety, water quality, agricultural development, animal and plant health, environmental protection, and more. The ideal candidate will have excellent legal writing and analysis skills, top-notch communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with other lawyers and staff.

Requirements

To be eligible for this position, candidates must be a member in good standing of the Vermont bar or be eligible to be admitted. A minimum of five years relevant litigation, client counseling, and administrative, agricultural, or environmental law experience is required.
