Job Overview

The Insurance Specialist plays a crucial role in our organization, ensuring that patients receive the best possible care by verifying their insurance benefits and network status. This position is essential for facilitating the pre-authorization of scheduled surgeries and procedures, contributing to the smooth operation of our healthcare services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough calls to verify benefits, eligibility, and network status for incoming patients.
  • Inform patients about their insurance's out-of-network status when applicable.
  • Secure pre-authorizations from insurance providers, utilizing appropriate CPT codes for authorization determination.
  • Document all communications with insurance companies, adjusters, and patients in the patients' charts.
  • Provide cost estimates for self-pay patients and manage the collection of payments.
  • Ensure signed waivers are obtained from patients prior to any surgical procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Preferred: Some college education.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in customer service, insurance, or healthcare settings.
  • Strong understanding of ICD-10 and CPT coding is preferred.
  • Experience in Orthopedic coding is a plus.
  • Possess personal attributes such as flexibility, enthusiasm, and effective communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook and Office applications.
