The Insurance Specialist plays a crucial role in our organization, ensuring that patients receive the best possible care by verifying their insurance benefits and network status. This position is essential for facilitating the pre-authorization of scheduled surgeries and procedures, contributing to the smooth operation of our healthcare services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough calls to verify benefits, eligibility, and network status for incoming patients.
- Inform patients about their insurance's out-of-network status when applicable.
- Secure pre-authorizations from insurance providers, utilizing appropriate CPT codes for authorization determination.
- Document all communications with insurance companies, adjusters, and patients in the patients' charts.
- Provide cost estimates for self-pay patients and manage the collection of payments.
- Ensure signed waivers are obtained from patients prior to any surgical procedures.
Qualifications:
- Preferred: Some college education.
- Minimum of two years of experience in customer service, insurance, or healthcare settings.
- Strong understanding of ICD-10 and CPT coding is preferred.
- Experience in Orthopedic coding is a plus.
- Possess personal attributes such as flexibility, enthusiasm, and effective communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook and Office applications.
