As an Assistant Payroll Manager at Horizon Services, you will play a vital role in our payroll department, located at our corporate headquarters. You will contribute significantly to the payroll team, which is tasked with the collection and precise processing of time sheets for both full-time and part-time employees. Additionally, your responsibilities will include data entry into our accounting system and maintaining effective communication with employees and managers via phone and email, ensuring a high standard of customer service.


Your role will involve supervising the daily operations of the Payroll Practitioners and assisting the Payroll Manager in the review and summarization of payroll data prior to submission.

  • Oversee the payroll department and manage daily payroll functions.
  • Support the Payroll Manager in the review and finalization of bi-weekly, weekly, and monthly payrolls.
  • Assist in the preparation of periodic reports and verification of payroll information.
  • Manage payroll-related inquiries and resolve employee concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Help the Payroll Manager in drafting and interpreting policies and procedures for the payroll department.
  • Supervise high-volume payroll entries utilizing ADP WFN and ServiceTitan time, including payroll adjustments and special payments.
  • Calculate and monitor overpayments.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of fundamental accounting principles and the ability to organize, analyze, and report data clearly.
  • Provide information regarding employment verification, wages, and employment periods in compliance with applicable laws.
  • Offer backup support for Payroll Practitioners and act on behalf of the Payroll Manager during their absence.
  • Stay informed about Federal, State, and Local laws and regulations affecting payroll.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Familiarity with payroll laws, regulations, and best practices, including FLSA, IRS regulations, and state/local tax laws.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Capability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a dynamic environment.
  • Maintain discretion and confidentiality when handling sensitive employee information.
  • Proficient in advanced Excel functionalities.
