About the Role

As an Aerial Construction Professional with Spectrum, you will be responsible for building, repairing, and maintaining HFC (hybrid fiber coax) plant and FTTH plant (Fiber to the Home) infrastructure. You will work on a crew to construct outside plant Aerial/UG network infrastructure, ensuring that our customers receive reliable and high-quality connectivity services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Built and maintained complex installations of cable in underground and/or overhead environments using most recent company specifications and industry standards.
  • Prepare underground system plant for repairs; includes trenching, pot holing, backfill, and repair or replacement of conduits, poles, risers or pedestals.
  • Investigated and repaired cut fiber optic cables or impairments, ensuring minimal downtime for our customers.
  • Dug trenches and filled ditches; buried cable; placed cable in trenches and through conduit.
  • Installed equipment used to house HFC & FTTH equipment, ground plant, or place rod or wire to serve as ground for future installations.
  • Worked with other Construction Technicians, in-house Technicians, as well as third-party contractors in the performance of their duties.
  • Performed traffic control and/or flagging as necessary, prioritizing customer safety and satisfaction.
  • Loaded and unloaded cable equipment and tools, ensuring efficient use of resources.
  • Read system prints and placed cable according to prints, utilizing knowledge of traditional fiber architectures and Fiber Plant maintenance.
  • CALCULATED SIGNAL LOSSES FROM ALL CABLE LINES AND DEVICES, USING SIGNAL LEVEL METER.

We offer a comprehensive compensation package for this role, including a salary range of $60,000 - $90,000 per year, depending on experience. To succeed in this role, you will need to have:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent work experience
  • Valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record
  • Industry-specific certifications and training (NCTI, SCTE, BCT/E) preferred
  • At least 2+ years of construction work experience
