Job Description

S&ME, Inc. is hiring a CEI Roadway Inspector to oversee transportation projects in Columbia, South Carolina. This role involves ensuring contractors meet all contract requirements, plans, and specifications, with a focus on quality assurance and project delivery.

About the Job

This full-time position offers a competitive salary based on experience, estimated at $70,000 - $90,000 per year. You will work closely with third-party construction teams, attend meetings, and interact with senior technical staff for project reviews.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and monitor contractor activities, including earthmoving, paving, bridge construction, and traffic control.
  • Prepare detailed records, including daily diaries, material reports, and field books for contractor payments.
  • Conduct materials sampling, verify line and grade with survey equipment, and perform key calculations to ensure accurate construction processes.
  • Perform DBE and EEO compliance surveys and verify erosion control devices meet environmental and permit requirements.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in highway-related construction or inspection.
  • A High school diploma/GED or 2-year technical degree in Civil Engineering Technology or Surveying Technology.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
