Job Description

At The Tri-M Group, we are seeking a skilled Automation Systems Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our commercial electrical services team, you will be responsible for providing independent field hardware and software support on building automation systems, including HVAC control systems, security systems, and life-safety systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform field preventative maintenance checks on electronic systems.
  • Provide field hardware support on electronic controllers and control devices, as well as pneumatic systems where applicable.
  • Offer on-site and front-end software assistance and support to customers.
  • Provide 24-hour on-call hardware and software service availability.
  • Install system additions and turnkey systems.
  • Complete all necessary paperwork to support field work.
  • Conduct on-the-job training for Service Technicians I, II, and III.
  • Assist with or independently perform checkout and start-up of system additions and turnkey systems.
  • Communicate with equipment representatives to solve field hardware problems.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; post-high school education in a related field is desirable.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience with building automation systems or in a related field.
  • Ability to understand design and design-intent of HVAC systems.
  • Ability to read and understand electrical, mechanical, and control drawings, specifications, schematics, and ladder diagrams.
  • Working knowledge of building automation systems software.
  • Above-average troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with proven mechanical ability to troubleshoot and repair HVAC systems and their components.
  • Proven leadership skills and ability to manage people.
  • Ability to organize and administer multiple jobs and tasks with good attention to detail.
  • Above-average knowledge of electrical trade and applicable electrical codes as they apply to building automation systems.
  • Knowledge of and ability to deal with other construction trades.
  • Must be confident, decisive, and self-motivated, with the ability to make independent decisions.
  • Above-average math and logic skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to work a frequently changing schedule to meet customer demands.
