Job Title: Case Management Supervisor Opportunity

Job Summary:

BronxWorks is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Case Management Supervisor to lead our Tenant Defense Program. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of supervising case managers and providing high-quality case management services to vulnerable populations. The Case Management Supervisor will be responsible for ensuring that clients are connected with rental assistance programs and public benefits, such as emergency rent arrears assistance, FHEPS, CityFHEPS, cash assistance, SNAP, WIC, and HASA. The ideal candidate will have prior experience assisting clients in housing court with subsidy applications and public benefits assistance and advocacy.

Responsibilities:

* Collaborate closely with the Vice President of Legal Services and program leadership to ensure the effective alignment of case management support with Tenant Defense attorneys and to meet contract deliverables for the Homelessness Prevention and Access to Benefits programs.
* Regularly assess and identify the public benefits programs, housing subsidies, and financial assistance available across the agency, making informed referrals and service connections based on client needs.
* Develop and implement best practices for case management workflow to improve efficiency and service delivery, ensuring comprehensive assessments of clients' eligibility for public benefits programs such as CityFHEPS, FHEPS, cash assistance, SNAP, and others.
* Collaborate with IT and data teams to ensure the effective use of case management systems and tools, optimizing reporting and tracking of client outcomes, particularly related to housing subsidies, rental assistance, and public benefits.
* Support strategic planning for program growth, identifying potential funding opportunities, public benefits initiatives, and collaborating in grant-writing efforts to enhance advocacy efforts across the agency.
* Maintain programmatic and statistical reports to ensure goals are met, identifying gaps in service delivery or underutilized benefits programs, and recommending strategies for improvement.
* Ensure contract compliance and assist in quality assurance for the case management program, particularly related to public benefits advocacy and housing subsidy programs.
* Establish and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders, including landlords, housing authorities, public benefits agencies, and community organizations, to facilitate timely access to housing subsidies, rental assistance, and other financial resources for clients.
* Monitor changes in housing policy, rental assistance programs, and public benefits regulations, ensuring staff remain informed and services are compliant, and assessing the impact of these changes on the agency's advocacy efforts.
* Train Case Managers on NYC's full range of rental assistance programs and public benefits, such as CityFHEPS, FHEPS, cash assistance, SNAP, and SSI, ensuring they understand program criteria and how to effectively advocate for client access to these resources.
* Act as a liaison internally at BronxWorks, regularly making referrals or reassigning clients to local Neighborhood Development Areas (NDAs) for public advocacy support where appropriate.
* Maintain a partial caseload, providing direct client services as needed, including completing intakes, assessing service plans, and advocating for housing subsidies or other financial assistance.
* Provide guidance on complex cases, intervening in crisis situations and ensuring that services meet client needs.

Requirements:

* Prior professional experience assisting clients in housing court with subsidy applications, such as emergency rent arrears assistance, FHEPS, CityFHEPS. Prior professional experience with public benefits assistance and advocacy.
* Demonstrated commitment to social justice and working in with low-income and vulnerable populations and communities of color to advance equity.
* Verbal and written proficiency in a language other than English, especially Spanish or another language commonly spoken by Bronx residents.
* Experience supervising or managing a team of case managers or advocates, particularly in a nonprofit or legal services setting.
* Proficiency in using case management systems and tools such as LegalServer, Salesforce, or other related software.
* Knowledge of NYC housing policies, tenant protections, and eviction defense strategies.
* Demonstrated ability to navigate complex bureaucracies, such as housing authorities or public assistance agencies, to secure benefits for clients.
* Experience in crisis intervention, conflict resolution, or trauma-informed care, particularly for housing-insecure or at-risk populations.
* Ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams, including attorneys, social workers, and other service providers.

Qualifications:

* LMSW preferred, or Bachelor's degree with significant experience in social services or case management
* Prior supervisory experience in a social service setting, ideally within housing or benefits advocacy.
* Strong knowledge of NYC rental assistance programs and public benefits such as FHEPS, CityFHEPS, HASA, SNAP, and cash assistance.
* Excellent communication and leadership skills, with experience working with vulnerable populations.
* Ability to collaborate with legal and social services staff in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.
* Excellent research, oral and written communication, and analytical skills.
* Strong attention to detail and concern for quality and accuracy.
* Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills. Able to effectively communicate and build trust with individuals from diverse backgrounds, external resource providers, and people experiencing crisis.
* High degree of professional ethics and integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality.
* Exceptional time management and organizational skills including the ability to manage a diverse and fast-paced caseload, multi-task, and produce quality work on tight deadlines.
* Proficiency in Microsoft office suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Sharepoint, and other standard business technology, including electronic case management and communication systems.
* Must be able to work effectively within a team structure as well as independently.

Physical Requirements:

* Ability to use a computer for prolonged periods.
* Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
* Ability to stand, walk, or sit for long periods of time.
* Ability to bend and retrieve objects and/or documents.
* Ability to travel in the boroughs of New York City and its adjacent counties via public transportation.
* Ability to travel for a minimum of 1 mile within a reasonable amount of time and in all types of weather, including inclement weather, if required to conduct home visits and/or field work.
