The Financial Clearance Analyst plays a crucial role in ensuring that accounts are financially prepared before services are rendered. This position requires expertise in all aspects of financial clearance, including scheduling, insurance verification, price estimation, and securing authorizations and pre-certifications.

The Analyst is expected to maintain a comprehensive understanding of third-party payer regulations and guidelines relevant to their assigned service lines. This includes a solid grasp of medical necessity and authorization prerequisites. Additionally, the Analyst will assess benefit and coverage levels, connecting patients with financial assistance resources when necessary.

The role encompasses proficiency in all Patient Access processes, which may involve tasks typically associated with registrars, financial counselors, schedulers, or authorization associates. The Analyst will also engage in denial analysis and contribute to improvements in clearance activities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required; post-secondary education is preferred.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in a healthcare business office environment is required.
  • Experience in hospital revenue cycle operations is preferred.
  • Prior experience in cash collections is advantageous.
  • Preferred certifications include CPAR or CHAA.
  • Familiarity with hospital billing and revenue cycle processes.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently with minimal supervision and work independently.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills to effectively engage with diverse audiences.
  • Proficient in common office software applications.
  • Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced and often high-pressure environment.
  • Willingness to work in a 24-hour department with varying shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Aptitude for de-escalating sensitive and rapidly evolving situations.
  • Knowledge of federal, commercial, and managed care payers.
