Geological Database Manager

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Geological Database Manager to lead our technical team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing robust geological database systems to store data efficiently.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and manage robust geological database systems to store data efficiently.
  • Develop and enforce database management policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Ensure geological data integrity, accuracy, and consistency across all databases.
  • Perform regular data backups and develop comprehensive disaster recovery plans.
  • Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, troubleshoot issues, and implement optimizations.
  • Implement and maintain advanced security protocols to protect sensitive data.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and provide technical support.
  • Conduct regular data audits to ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards.
  • Provide training and support to staff on database usage and best practices.
  • Oversee data migration projects and ensure seamless integration of new data sources and systems.
  • Develop and maintain reporting and dashboard systems to provide timely and accurate data insights.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of database structures, processes, and security protocols.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Geology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Database Manager or similar role, preferably in the mining or mineral exploration industry.
  • Strong knowledge of database management systems (e.g., SQL, Oracle, MongoDB).
  • Experience with data backup, recovery, and security protocols.
  • Proficiency in database design, development, and optimization.
  • Understanding of, and experience in, web API's.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and spatial databases.
  • Familiarity with industry-specific software (MX Deposit, Leapfrog Central, Leapfrog Geo) and data standards.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements in the mining industry.

We offer a competitive salary range of $110,000-$125,000, as well as a comprehensive benefits package, including 401(k), medical/dental/vision insurance, employee share purchase plan, PTO, and STI.
