Role Summary:

The Activity Assistant is responsible for implementing both individual and group activities that cater to the mental, physical, spiritual, and social well-being of residents. This role is vital in fostering an engaging and vibrant community atmosphere.

Key Qualifications:
Candidates should possess knowledge of therapeutic recreation methods and demonstrate the ability to work autonomously or collaboratively. Creativity and motivation are essential, along with the capability to manage daily activities in the absence of the Program Director. Proficiency in computer usage is necessary, with familiarity in calendar software being advantageous. The role demands physical stamina, including frequent bending, stretching, and lifting. A positive demeanor and experience with elderly populations are crucial, as is the willingness to work on weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities:

The responsibilities of this part-time role include, but are not limited to:

  1. Executing pre-planned activities while also developing new programs with the Activities Director's approval.
  2. Managing the preparation and cleanup of activity supplies.
  3. Accompanying residents on monthly outings, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience.
  4. Welcoming new residents and integrating them into community activities.
  5. Assisting with special events and functions for residents, such as themed dinners and holiday decorations.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Ability to read and understand simple instructions and correspondence, as well as to write basic communications.
  • Capacity to apply common sense in following detailed instructions and addressing problems with straightforward variables.
  • Flexibility to work various schedules and shifts as required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs. without assistance.
  • Ability to bend, reach, and work in confined spaces.
  • Capability to push and pull equipment and furnishings as needed.
  • Physical endurance to stand and work on hands and knees for extended periods.
