Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled leader to serve as the Vice President of the Cruelty Recovery Center (CRC) at the ASPCA. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of leading large teams and overseeing complex programs, with a strong background in animal welfare and a passion for improving the lives of animals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the CRC team and oversee the development and implementation of programs and services to support the rehabilitation and recovery of animals rescued from cruelty cases and natural disasters.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including other ASPCA teams, partners, and community organizations.
  • Collaborate with the Rehabilitation Services Group to ensure alignment and coordination of efforts across the organization.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the CRC team, including coaching, mentoring, and developing staff to achieve their full potential.
  • Manage a substantial budget and oversee the financial planning and management of the CRC.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve the goals and objectives of the CRC and the ASPCA.
  • Represent the ASPCA and the CRC in various forums and meetings, including with government agencies, community organizations, and other stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience leading a large team and overseeing a multifaceted program.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience managing a substantial, complex budget.
  • Experience working as a leader in an animal shelter and thorough animal welfare knowledge required.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Fluent in Internet usage and in the use of MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CAWA designation.
  • Project management experience.
  • IS and ICS experience.
  • Experience serving in an oversight role during disaster response and/or in temporary field shelters.
  • Experience working with victims of animal cruelty.
