About the Indiana State Prison:

Compensation Overview:

The starting salary for this position is typically $42,900.00, though it may vary based on educational background or relevant work experience.

Daily Responsibilities:

The primary responsibilities of this role include:

  • Offering guidance to offenders regarding job placements, housing transitions, facility relocations, and other operational procedures.
  • Serving as a liaison among potential employers, judicial systems, community organizations, and government agencies to facilitate job development and adjustment upon release.
  • Evaluating each assigned offender's risks and needs using the Indiana Risk Assessment System (IRAS).
  • Collaborating with relevant facility personnel to address reentry and release matters.
  • Documenting an offender's temporary absences and progress reports, including case notes and program referrals throughout their incarceration.
  • Working with classification department staff to provide suitable classification recommendations for offenders.
  • Conducting orientation sessions for newly admitted offenders.
  • Complying with reentry policies to ensure all quality assurance tasks are performed in accordance with established guidelines.

Qualifications for Success:

To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Possession of a High School Diploma or High School Equivalent (HSE).
  • A minimum of one (1) year of relevant experience in social work, corrections, criminal justice, or a related field. Note: Each year of relevant education may substitute for one year of required experience.
  • Certification in the Indiana Risk Assessment System must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
  • Successful completion of all drug screenings.
  • Ability to complete all mandatory training, including the DOC Training Program, First Aid, and CPR courses upon hire.
Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position involves supervising incarcerated individuals and necessitates a high level of judgment and care.
