Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the VP of Internal Audit to establish a cohesive, value-driven audit function and execute the internal audit strategy.
  • Oversee individual audit projects, including financial and operational audits, as well as SOX compliance testing across the Americas and Europe, focusing on high-risk areas and reviewing both operational and financial controls.
  • Assist in developing fraud risk assessments to ensure thorough testing in critical areas.
  • Identify potential risks in processes and transactions for each business unit.
  • Design and implement risk-based audit procedures and work plans to achieve audit objectives, including the integrity and reliability of information, process efficiency, asset safeguarding, and compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Engage with local teams and management at all levels to gain a comprehensive understanding of the business operations.
  • Review and audit financial reporting and business processes managed by local finance and management teams.
  • Identify weaknesses in processes and areas requiring risk-based audit procedures.
  • Supervise other auditors and staff in support of specific audit engagements.
  • Ensure that documentation of work papers substantiates audit conclusions.
  • Prepare and present final audit reports to local and senior management, discussing identified risks, process weaknesses, and recommendations for mitigation.
  • Evaluate action plans and opportunities for process improvements with local management.
  • Manage the audit findings log to ensure timely follow-up with management on action plans and escalate discrepancies as necessary.
  • Foster a collaborative relationship with management to develop and maintain efficient internal control systems.
  • Review compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Mentor and support Internal Audit staff.
  • Assist the Director with administrative tasks, including departmental budgeting.
  • Engage in special projects such as due diligence, acquisition integration, rationalization studies, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Temporarily act as finance controller in facilities when required.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in public accounting or a combination of public accounting and manufacturing industry experience, with a strong understanding of US GAAP. CPA designation is preferred.
  • Proficient in researching and resolving accounting issues.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strong analytical skills to identify trends, issues, or flaws, determine root causes, and collaborate with others to implement solutions.
  • Knowledge of business processes and operational efficiencies.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Exceptional report writing capabilities.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 25%, primarily domestically with some international travel.
