Position Overview:

Title: Cybersecurity Operations Manager

Location: Remote

Salary: Competitive base salary with performance bonuses

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the establishment of a formal Cybersecurity Department within a well-respected institution.
  • Oversee a wide range of hands-on responsibilities, including incident response, threat and vulnerability management, endpoint security, risk management, compliance, and disaster recovery.
  • Develop new cybersecurity capabilities to protect the organization’s information systems and data assets. Implement and maintain robust security measures against cyber threats, ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems.
  • Drive the design, performance, planning, budgeting, and integration of cybersecurity initiatives across the organization. Refine and create processes related to the Risk Management Framework (RMF), threat and vulnerability analysis, penetration testing, and reporting.
  • Enhance cybersecurity capabilities and incident response processes to align with company requirements and industry standards. Safeguard the organization’s information systems and data assets.
  • Manage audits and evaluations of the cybersecurity environment. Plan, document, test, integrate, and execute cybersecurity projects, including annual budgeting and vendor coordination. Build a small cybersecurity team over time and provide regular updates to executive management on the state of cybersecurity and compliance.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Demonstrated leadership experience in information security, with a minimum of 5 years in relevant roles.
  • Experience in the Financial Services sector is preferred, with a solid understanding of regulatory requirements and financial procedures.
  • Possession of industry-recognized certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CISA is advantageous.
  • Strong background in incident response, threat and vulnerability management, endpoint security, risk management, compliance, and disaster recovery.
  • Experience in a mid-sized environment with broad cybersecurity responsibilities is ideal.
  • In-depth knowledge of information security principles and best practices.
  • Familiarity with security technologies, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, antivirus, and encryption.
  • Understanding of security frameworks and compliance standards (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST, GDPR).
  • Experience in evaluating and managing cyber risk within industry-standard frameworks (e.g., NIST Cybersecurity Framework, CIS Top 20, NIST 800-XX).
