The National Security Sector at Leidos is in search of a seasoned Security Program Officer to oversee a critical program.

This role offers a chance to leverage your expertise primarily in Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) and support collateral security initiatives to enhance our operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the security program, ensuring compliance with both company and client security protocols.
  • Engage with various levels of personnel within Leidos and government management to guarantee adherence to the National Industrial Security Operating Manual (NISPOM), Department of Defense (DoD) regulations, and relevant security classification specifications.
  • Exhibit self-motivation and the ability to work independently or collaboratively with minimal supervision while maintaining excellent communication.
  • Possess the decisiveness to make critical security decisions regarding high-value contracts and enforce security measures to safeguard access to sensitive information and facilities.
  • Provide clear directives to staff and suggest adjustments to operational policies as necessary.
  • Manage daily security operations, including personnel processing, program evaluations, document control, and audits.
  • Conduct investigations and compile reports on security violations, maintain logs, and manage visit certifications.
  • Offer technical expertise across various security disciplines, including personnel, physical, and computer security.
  • Prepare and distribute security guidelines and procedures.
  • Coordinate Entrance on Duty (EOD) processes for new personnel.
  • Facilitate SCI briefings and debriefings for program staff.
  • Oversee the management and upkeep of security badges in collaboration with Leidos Security Service Center and government clients.
  • Work with Department of Defense and Intelligence Community members to stay informed on current security requirements.
  • Maintain and update personnel and program records, both digitally and in hard copy.
  • Collaborate with internal and external security offices to share program-related information.
  • Interpret security policies related to the handling and control of classified materials.
  • Monitor security operations and provide status updates and recommendations.
  • Develop and implement Security Awareness and Counterintelligence training materials.
  • Engage with managers to ensure a comprehensive understanding of program operations.
  • Be prepared to work extended hours as needed.
  • Experience in creating and authoring security documentation for proposals is essential.
Basic Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree with 6-8 years of relevant experience or a Master's degree with 4-6 years of relevant experience is required.
  • In-depth knowledge of the field is necessary to manage complex projects and process improvements.
  • Strong internal and external communication skills are essential.
  • Ability to influence and present expert solutions effectively.
  • Thorough understanding of NISPOM and other government regulations.
  • Self-starter with the capability to work independently in client environments.
  • Commitment to security and delivering exceptional value to clients.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to evaluate and interpret clearance decisions made by government clients.
  • Strong understanding of Physical Security requirements to meet contractual obligations.
  • Experience managing Sensitive Compartmented Information programs.
  • Familiarity with government and corporate security databases.
  • Experience consolidating nomination packages for submission to clients.
  • Ability to conduct security briefings and debriefings effectively.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility is required.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification in FSO, CPSO, or CSSO security training.
  • Familiarity with security management systems.
  • Experience with security standard operating procedures and emergency action plans.
  • Knowledge of access control and intrusion detection systems.
  • Experience in conducting security incident investigations.
  • Resourceful in problem-solving and seizing opportunities.
  • Membership in security organizations or affiliations.
