Role Summary

We are seeking a meticulous Staff Accountant to enhance our accounting department. This role is integral to supporting the diverse operations of Red Cedar Homes' vertically integrated real estate development business. The Staff Accountant will undertake essential responsibilities within our accounting team, gaining comprehensive exposure to various aspects of our operations, including real estate development, construction, partnership accounting, and financial reporting. This position is crucial for managing real estate transactions, overseeing debt management, conducting bank reconciliations, and preparing financial reports, among other tasks. Key Responsibilities

  • Review key performance indicators (KPIs) and financial statements for accuracy and compliance.
  • Assist in the month-end closing procedures.
  • Conduct balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Ensure adherence to established controls and compliance protocols.
  • Propose enhancements for process improvements and automation.
  • Prepare journal entries, including HUD entries for various real estate transactions.
  • Compile schedules as requested by management.
  • Generate planned and ad-hoc reports.
  • Lead efforts in tracking and maintaining debt management.
  • Contribute to the planning and execution of special projects for the upcoming years.

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience in recording accounting entries (accruals, prepaids) and creating journal entries.
  • Strong grasp of accounting principles.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Robust analytical skills.

Work Schedule

  • Standard daytime hours, Monday through Friday; occasional weekend work may be necessary.

Job Type

  • Full-time position, averaging 40 hours per week.

Compensation

  • Salary range: $65,000-$75,000 annually.
