Job Overview:
This position is focused on providing advanced planning expertise to spearhead and support master, program, and project planning endeavors. The Senior Manager will contribute to the formulation of planning strategies, designs, and standards that influence all dimensions of campus projects.

Key Responsibilities:

Primary Duties:
  • Oversee and manage project planning and feasibility assessments to develop capital projects by defining project scope, timelines, and budgets for multiple concurrent initiatives. Provide insights on the technical, financial, operational, and aesthetic implications of projects.
  • Lead client-facing initiatives during the programming and conceptual design stages of projects.
  • Interpret and implement planning standards, principles, policies, and applicable laws and regulations.
  • Conduct research, gather, and analyze data; identify key issues; and develop assessment and prioritization criteria. Recommend actions and strategies.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports, memorandums, and presentation materials.
  • Deliver presentations to both internal and external stakeholders, requiring the development of various communication aids.
  • Manage planning projects by coordinating efforts across various departments.
  • Monitor relevant community development and regional planning issues.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure projects are holistically planned.
  • Integrate campus objectives into District-wide and campus-specific Master Plan development.
  • Schedule and forecast multiple complex projects to optimize execution.
  • Continuously seek knowledge in the design and planning of educational spaces.
  • Facilitate learning sessions for staff to enhance their expertise in relevant areas.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Stay updated on building codes, materials, and design guidelines.
  • Participate in committees and task forces as needed.
  • Represent the department at various events.


Knowledge and Skills Required:
  • Expertise in planning, architecture, engineering, and construction management.
  • Strong understanding of project planning and management principles.
  • Proficiency in budget and schedule preparation.
  • Knowledge of regulations concerning accessibility and hazardous materials.
  • Familiarity with laws and ordinances governing design and construction.

  • Ability to maintain a structured work schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Commitment to confidentiality regarding work-related information.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including tact and diplomacy.
  • Effective organizational and planning abilities.

Technology Proficiency:
  • Familiarity with various software for spreadsheets, word processing, databases, presentations, facility management, task management, budget reporting, and project management.


Experience and Education:
  • Minimum of five years of relevant experience in project and program planning for capital projects.
  • Bachelor's degree in Planning, Architecture, or Engineering is required.
  • Preferred: Eight years of related experience and a Master's degree in Planning, Architecture, or Engineering, along with Project Management certification.


Physical Requirements:
  • Work is typically performed in an office environment.
  • Involves standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling.
  • Occasional lifting of objects up to 10 pounds may be required.
  • Travel to various sites may be necessary.
  • Some physical exertion may be needed to navigate job sites.

Salary Range:

$85,239 - $106,548
