Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Transportation Planner/Project Manager to join our team at Freese and Nichols. As a key member of our planning team, you will be responsible for managing and running a range of public sector transportation projects, as well as engaging with our client base to identify new project opportunities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and coordinate transportation planning projects, including research, analysis, documentation, and client interface.
  • Lead project teams and supervise project technicians and other planners as needed.
  • Develop and implement project plans, timelines, and budgets.
  • Prepare and present project reports and visual documents to clients and stakeholders.
  • Support the planning team in public meeting facilitation and City Council meetings/public hearings.
  • Identify and pursue new project opportunities with public sector clients.
Requirements
  • 4+ years of experience in transportation planning-related work, with a strong understanding of public sector, MPO, and/or DOT client base.
  • Bachelor's degree in Transportation Planning, Urban Planning, Traffic Engineering, Urban Design, or related field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite, with GIS mapping and database skills a plus.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Transportation Planning or Urban Planning with transportation emphasis.
  • Prior work experience in a consulting firm or municipal/transportation agency planning department.
  • American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification.
  • Software skills in Microsoft Office, social media, and GIS.
