Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the seamless operation of multi-user computer systems, collaborating closely with network engineers.
  • Oversee and manage system resources, including CPU utilization, disk space, and response times to ensure optimal performance.
  • Execute systems security administration tasks, such as creating user profiles and managing accounts.
  • Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 support for problem identification, diagnosis, and resolution. Provision and secure Linux operating systems.
  • Additional responsibilities may include establishing administrator accounts, maintaining system documentation, optimizing system performance, installing software across the system, and managing storage allocations. Engage with users to assess vendor products, recommend hardware and software purchases, coordinate installations, and ensure backup recovery. Develop and enforce policies and standards regarding the use of computing resources. Familiarity with scripting and application installation from root files is essential. Proficient in reviewing security scans, applying necessary fixes, and working with STIGs using automated tools.
Essential Qualifications:

  • Full-time work in a secure facility is mandatory, with flexible hours.
  • A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field with a minimum of 8 years of experience is required. Additional experience may substitute for a degree.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph (less than or equal to 6 years). Candidates with a polygraph older than 6 years must be willing to retake and pass it before starting.
  • Current Security+ or other IAT II/III level certification is required.
  • Proficient in Linux (CentOS, RHEL, and/or Oracle) with recent experience, including Linux OS upgrades in a cloud setting.
  • Experience in an AWS environment and familiarity with console access for provisioning, maintaining, and monitoring servers.
  • Skills in performing snapshots, disaster recovery, and performance tuning.
  • Knowledge of installation, STIG hardening, and patch management.
  • Strong troubleshooting abilities and effective Tier 1 communication skills.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining critical documentation (SIPs, SAGs, SOPs, Getting Started guides).
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working within Agile scrum teams.
  • Familiarity with ElasticSearch.
  • Knowledge of cloud technologies (EC2s, S3, Elasticache), Kafka, Openshift, Docker, Keycloak, Wildfly.
  • Understanding of PKI certificates, SSL, and service accounts.
  • Experience managing various environment types (physical, virtual, cloud).
  • Experience supporting security audits and testing initiatives.

Education/Experience:

  • A Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field is required.
  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience is required. Additional experience may substitute for a degree.
