Job Summary:

The Business Outreach Coordinator will serve as a liaison between the New Mexico Division of Vocational Rehabilitation and local businesses, fostering partnerships to promote employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Establish and maintain relationships with employers through networking events, meetings, and conferences.
  • Identify and address employer needs, providing information on NMDVR services and supporting job seekers in meeting those needs.
  • Collaborate with Job Development Service Providers to complete vetting processes, track certificates, and provide training on DVR processes and billing requirements.
  • Work with the W-9 Vendor Liaison to ensure new vendor requests are processed and added to the State Vendor file.
  • Meet with vendors and employers to understand their business needs and match NMDVR participants to meet those needs.
  • Plan, organize, and coordinate social service programs in community outreach, overseeing budgets and policies related to participant involvement.
  • Assist employers with recruitment and hiring processes, including labor market information, job seeker search, and job posting.
  • Connect employers with job seekers through job boards and websites specifically for people with disabilities and referrals.
  • Provide ADA education to employers and refer them to other resources to enhance DVR participant employability.
  • Coordinate with Business Team members to provide job development leads for all job seekers.
Requirements:
  • 5 years of experience in Vocational Rehabilitation working with people with disabilities.
  • 3 years of experience in community outreach, vendor relations, and building relationships and networking.
  • 2 years of experience in providing ADA education to employers and job development services to people with disabilities.
  • Minimum Qualification: Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Guidance and Counseling, Education, Sociology, Criminal Justice, Criminology, and/or Family Studies/Services.
Working Conditions:

This role requires working in an office setting, with occasional late hours and weekends. The incumbent will be exposed to regular periods of video display terminal and keyboard usage, stressful situations, and in-state travel to interact with various businesses.

This is a bargaining unit position, and all terms and conditions of the collective bargaining agreement apply.
