Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Systems Analyst to join our team at New Mexico Highlands University. As a key member of our IT department, you will be responsible for supporting our enterprise software applications and providing technical expertise to end-users.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work with technology users to define needs and requirements, developing complex custom reports and online information inquiries.
  • Provide technical support through applications problem analysis, troubleshooting, and documentation.
  • Perform applications management and administration, including monitoring, system and process logs, maintaining applications security and access, and configuring and testing application functionality.
  • Maintain and manage multiple operating systems, including Microsoft Windows, Linux, and UNIX.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, system utilization and capacity reports, process flow charts, and utilize and maintain information in the Information Technology Service Management (ITSM) system.
  • Perform software applications development, including requirements gathering, business process analysis, program design, and writing complex code using current programming languages and best practices and standards.
  • Write complex code to implement software applications integrations and develop application interfaces.
  • Install, upgrade, configure, and coordinate the validation and user acceptance testing of enterprise applications software.
  • Provide communications and information sharing through conducting and attending meetings, emails to the university's technology community, scheduling and coordinating technology events.
  • Develop and maintain training material and provide end-user training.
  • Maintain technical relevance with current and state-of-the-art technology trends and practices through self-directed professional reading and presentations, developing and maintaining professional contacts, attending professional development courses, and attending functional training of the University's technology.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in an information technology field or an equivalent combination of education and experience totaling eight (8) years in enterprise applications support.
  • Four (4) years of professional experience in enterprise applications support, Microsoft Windows or Linux operating systems.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in Argos Data Block and Report Writing, SharePoint and Active Directory, Ellucian Banner System, Oracle or SQLSVR Database Management System, Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Active Directory, and a College or University environment.
Special Conditions for Eligibility
  • Must be available on an on-call basis or to work non-standard business hours to upgrade, perform systems, and support enterprise applications and their users.
  • Specialty licensure/certification may be required, as specified by the department.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Excellent and effective communication skills, both written and verbal/oral.
  • Knowledge in at least three (3) of the following programming languages: ASP, Python, PowerShell, HTML, Java, JavaScript, .NET, Perl, PL/SQL, SQL.
  • Ability to work with people possessing differing levels of technical knowledge.
  • Ability to manage and maintain multiple projects and be an effective team player.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in regard to information processed, stored, or accessed by systems.
  • Ability to interpret and evaluate client informational needs and to determine appropriate alternative solutions.
  • Knowledge of computer systems analysis and design concepts, methods, procedures, and standards.
  • Ability to plan, design, coordinate installation, test, manage, and modify complex systems and subsystems.
  • Knowledge of available system software, computer equipment, and the regulations, structure, techniques, and management practices of one or more subject areas to design complex systems or subsystems.

  • Work is performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
  • Work with frequent interruptions.
