Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to serve as the Academic Success Support Center Coordinator. This position will be responsible for recruiting, onboarding, and providing year-round TRIO Educational Talent Search services to motivate first-generation and economically disadvantaged participants from the target middle and high schools in Otero County to complete secondary and post-secondary education.

Key Responsibilities
  • Recruit and onboard participants for the TRIO Educational Talent Search program
  • Provide academic support services to participants, including career and college success sessions, parent and participant workshops, and educational and cultural events
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance the futures of middle and high school students in the target area
  • Collaborate with academic administrators and faculty to provide support services to participants
  • Supervise and evaluate the work of assigned staff
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • Three years of experience related to the standard duties as outlined
  • Knowledge of university and department policies and procedures, principles of supervision, training, and performance evaluation
  • Skills in short- and long-range planning, problem analysis and resolution, report preparation and presentation, public contact and relations, oral and written communication
Preferred Qualifications
  • Special requirements of the position include a State Background Check and a NMPED Teacher or Substitute Licensure
  • The position is based at Alamogordo, New Mexico and New Mexico State University-Las Cruces campus
