POSITION SUMMARY:

Penn State Campus Retail Dining is actively seeking a Food Production Worker B. The responsibilities of this role include:
  • Preparing salads, dressings, appetizers, fruits, jello, and sandwich spreads while adhering to straightforward recipes for cooking various ingredients.
  • Reviewing menus to ascertain the required salads and preparing them accordingly.
  • Inspecting products to ensure they meet the expected standards of appearance and portion sizes.
  • Properly disassembling and storing salad components.
  • Working at the serving counter and other food production areas as necessary.
  • Transporting food items to and from the serving counter as needed.
  • Under the guidance of the first or second cook, preparing vegetables and other food items in accordance with food preparation methods, menus, and recipes.
  • Operating and cleaning kitchen equipment such as mixers, choppers, cutters, and slicers; maintaining cleanliness of refrigerators, tables, sinks, and pans.
  • Occasionally mentoring one other individual in the preparation of salads and similar tasks.
  • Carrying out periodic and special cleaning duties as required.
  • Performing additional duties related to the responsibilities outlined above.
QUALIFICATIONS: This position requires proficiency in commercial English, grammar, and basic arithmetic, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, as well as the ability to interpret formulas, charts, tables, and specifications. Experience in using recipes for salad preparation and cooking is essential. A minimum of 1 to 3 months of relevant experience is required.

WORK SCHEDULE: 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

DAYS OFF: Saturday, Sunday

This position is part of the bargaining unit represented by Teamsters Local Union No. 8, with a starting hourly wage of $17.28. After six full pay periods, the rate increases to $19.24 per hour.
