POSITION SUMMARY AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Penn State Campus Retail Dining is in search of a Food Production Worker B to enhance their culinary team. Responsibilities include:
  • Prepare salads, dressings, appetizers, fruits, jello, and sandwich spreads while adhering to straightforward recipes for cooking various ingredients.
  • Review menus to ascertain required salads and prepare them accordingly.
  • Inspect products to confirm they meet the expected standards of appearance and portion sizes.
  • Properly disassemble and store salad components.
  • Assist at the serving counter and other food production areas as needed.
  • Transport food items to and from the serving counter as necessary.
  • Under the guidance of the first or second cook, prepare vegetables and other food items following established cooking methods, menus, and recipes.
  • Operate and maintain kitchen equipment such as mixers, choppers, cutters, and slicers; ensure cleanliness of refrigerators, tables, sinks, and pans.
  • Occasionally mentor one other individual in salad preparation and related tasks.
  • Conduct periodic and specialized cleaning duties as required.
  • Perform additional duties related to or similar to those described above.
Job Requirements: Proficiency in commercial English, grammar, and basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, including decimals and fractions) is necessary. Familiarity with formulas, charts, tables, and specifications, along with the ability to interpret these in various applications, is essential. Experience with recipes and formulas for salad preparation and cooking assistance is required. A minimum of 1 month and up to 3 months of relevant experience is expected.

Work Schedule: 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

Days Off: Saturday, Sunday

This position is part of the bargaining unit represented by Teamsters Local Union No. 8, with a starting hourly wage of $17.28. After six full pay periods (bi-weekly) from the date of hire, the rate increases to $19.24 per hour. More information can be found in the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
