Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer for Research and Development to aid in the creation, documentation, and validation of new electrical products. This role requires the application of electrical engineering principles, best practices, and electrical CAD design.

Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Designing electrical hardware products based on specifications from FANUC America Executing Groups.
  • Developing and maintaining a technical plan to outline the scope of work and deliverables for new product developments.
  • Completing all assigned Failure Mode and Effects Analyses (FMEAs), validation test plans, and testing within the established timelines.
  • Conducting engineering analyses, including power distribution, thermal management, and load calculations.
  • Designing system cables and wiring harnesses for FANUC products and systems.
  • Creating packaging concepts and designs for specific FANUC products and systems.
  • Participating in Design Reviews for new electrical product launches.
  • Collaborating with suppliers to evaluate and quote new products.
  • Releasing product part numbers and bills of materials in the company's Enterprise Business System.
  • Authoring and supporting documentation for FANUC products and systems.
  • Assisting manufacturing during new product builds and troubleshooting issues.
  • Engaging with suppliers and customers to resolve product-related issues.
  • Identifying necessary drawing revisions and processing formal engineering changes.
  • Coordinating with FANUC Corporation to exchange development ideas and address product challenges.
  • Supporting quality initiatives and participating in teams focused on corrective actions.
  • Contributing to cost reduction initiatives.
  • Providing electrical hardware support on the manufacturing floor as needed.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to customer sites, not exceeding 20% of the time.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Experience with electronics testing, robotics, control system design, and technical report writing.
  • A solid understanding of electronics, wiring systems, computer architectures, and microprocessor-based systems.
  • Knowledge of EMI/EMC principles, shielding, and grounding.
  • Familiarity with the National Electric Code (NEC) and international standards is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD (AutoCAD Electrical is a plus).
  • Experience with Solidworks for sheet metal design is a plus.
  • Understanding of Altium Designer for PCB design is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with documentation management systems such as XDOCs is a plus.
  • Knowledge of electrical engineering symbols, conventions, and standards.
  • A proactive approach to project responsibilities and deadlines.
  • Basic technical skills to assist with electrical prototype assembly or modifications.
