Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Aircraft Sheet Metal Repair Professional to join our team at Ascent Aviation. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to the repair and replacement of aircraft sheet metal structures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Repair and Replacement of Aircraft Sheet Metal Structures: Research technical data and perform inspections, repairs, and replacements of aircraft sheet metal structures, including main landing gear fittings, aircraft skins, and floor beams, in accordance with applicable maintenance manuals, FAA regulations, and Ascent Aviation policies and procedures.
  • Blueprint Reading and Interpretation: Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, or product specifications to determine the sequence and methods of fabricating, assembling, and installing sheet metal products.
  • Sheet Metal Fabrication and Assembly: Plan, lay out, fabricate, assemble, install, and repair sheet metal parts, equipment, and products, utilizing knowledge of working characteristics of metallic and nonmetallic materials, machining, and layout techniques.
  • Material Selection and Preparation: Select gauge and type of sheet metal, such as stainless steel, steel, or aluminum, or nonmetallic material, such as plastics or fiberglass, according to product specifications.
  • Layout and Marking: Lay out and mark dimensions and reference lines on material, using scribes, dividers, squares, and rulers, applying knowledge of shop mathematics and layout techniques to develop and trace patterns of product or parts.
  • Maintenance and Housekeeping: Perform maintenance work, such as repair and maintenance of company equipment and shop housecleaning.
  • Documentation and Record-Keeping: Make appropriate entries in Component Removal Log, complete identification tags, and repairable/parts routing tags upon removing components from aircraft, and ensure that proper documentation is made on training records.
Requirements
  • Education and Training: High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education or training in aircraft maintenance or equivalent combination of education, training, or experience required.
  • Experience: One to five years of experience in aircraft structural repair preferred.
  • Certifications and Licenses: A license preferred; valid driver's license required.
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, kneeling, balancing, and reaching above shoulder level. The employee must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull weight up to 50lbs unassisted. The work environment may include exposure to high-intensity noise levels, extreme changes in temperature, and working on unprotected heights or around moving machinery.

The employee must be able to safely drive and operate a standard shift automotive vehicle and other applicable equipment. The ability to work with or without supervision is required.
