Position Summary

OBJECTIVE

The primary role involves executing tasks related to the servicing, repair, and refurbishment of aircraft and their components, parts, and accessories.

NOTE: Candidates must be prepared for potential international travel for training and possess or be able to obtain a valid passport.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Physical Requirements: The position necessitates prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and walking. Frequent bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, kneeling, balancing, and reaching above shoulder height are required. Occasional tasks may involve crawling, climbing, lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling weights up to 50 pounds without assistance. Adequate eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity are essential, along with corrected vision and hearing within normal ranges.

Equipment Utilized: Aircraft ground support equipment, including tugs, tractors, lifts, trucks, servicing carts, testing apparatus, hand tools, rivet guns, and drills.

Work Environment: Aircraft maintenance facility and flightline.

Potential Risks: Exposure to high noise levels, extreme temperature variations, materials listed on Safety Data Sheets, working at heights, or near moving machinery; entry into aircraft fuel tanks.

Required Safety Gear: Goggles, safety glasses, face shields, hearing protection, aprons, gloves, safety harnesses, and respiratory equipment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Core Functions:
  • Analyze technical documentation and perform disassembly, repair, cleaning, adjustment, assembly, testing, and calibration of aircraft components using specialized tools and ground equipment in compliance with maintenance manuals, FAA regulations, and Ascent Aviation protocols.
  • Repair, replace, and reconstruct aircraft structures such as wings and fuselage, along with functional components including rigging, surface controls, plumbing, and hydraulic systems.
  • Interpret manufacturers' and airlines' maintenance manuals, service bulletins, and specifications to assess the feasibility and methods for repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components.
  • Upon removal of units from an aircraft, engine, or other major components, complete necessary identification, inspections, routing tags, and forms, and make appropriate entries into the Component Removal Log.
  • Disassemble and inspect aircraft and engine parts for wear or defects.
  • Repair or replace defective engine components and reassemble and install engines in aircraft.
  • Adjust, repair, or replace electrical wiring systems and aircraft accessories.
  • Perform additional duties to service aircraft, including cleaning, servicing, greasing, moving parts, and checking brakes.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Ensure proper documentation is maintained on training records for received training, signed by Lead, Supervisor, or Manager.
  • Conduct maintenance work such as repair and upkeep of company equipment and shop cleanliness.
  • Ensure all tasks are performed safely, directing activities to protect employees from harm and maintain safe working conditions.
SAFETY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (SMS) REQUIREMENTS
  • Employees are accountable for executing their duties in accordance with company policies and government regulations, designed to safeguard lives and resources. Violations of these rules may increase the risk of incidents.
  • Engage in safety education programs and training to recognize hazards on the job and report them promptly. Reporting errors, incidents, and accidents honestly is a condition of employment at Ascent Aviation.
  • Employees observing unsafe actions or conditions should promptly notify supervisors and managers. Certain conditions may allow employees to correct situations independently.
  • In all instances, employees must inform their supervisor of any actions taken. The first employee to witness an accident or incident should take immediate action to alert appropriate responders and take reasonable steps to prevent further injury or damage.
Qualifications

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to organize and prioritize work while adhering to deadlines; strong attention to detail and mathematical skills; proficiency in reading, writing, and understanding English, and following verbal and written instructions; ability to interpret and apply technical data relevant to the position; capability to safely operate standard shift vehicles and other applicable equipment; ability to work independently or collaboratively.

Education/Training: High School diploma or equivalent required. Post-secondary education or training in aircraft maintenance or a comparable combination of education, training, or experience is required.

Experience: Three to five years of experience in aircraft maintenance is preferred.

Certificates/Licenses: A&P License and a valid driver's license are required.

Other: May be required to work at multiple locations as business needs dictate. Additional duties not listed in the position description may be assigned at the discretion of department management.
