Position Title:
Aircraft Maintenance Technician (Lead)

Job Description:
Ensures that all tasks performed adhere to relevant technical documentation, FAA regulations, policies, and procedures.


Collaborates closely with the immediate supervisor and Production Control Booth Coordinator to keep them updated on actual work progress in assigned areas of responsibility.


Reviews non-scheduled documents to identify repair methods and/or replacement needs, determining necessary parts, materials, and tooling requirements, while providing timely estimates for all maintenance on non-scheduled documents within the scope of responsibility.


Ensures that all aircraft parts/components removed from an aircraft under maintenance, which are to be sent to Technical Services, are documented with a valid job number and that the work scope is accurately identified.

Responsible for the proper execution of parts tags attached to repairable, serviceable, or condemned components.


Repairs, replaces, and rebuilds aircraft structures such as wings and fuselage, as well as functional components including rigging, surface controls, plumbing, and hydraulic units.


Reads and interprets manufacturers' and airlines' maintenance manuals, service bulletins, and other specifications to assess feasibility and methods for repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components.

Inspects turbine blades for cracks or breaks.

Disassembles and inspects parts for wear or other defects.

Repairs or replaces defective engine components and reassembles and installs engines in aircraft.

Adjusts, repairs, or replaces electrical wiring systems and aircraft accessories.

Performs various duties to service aircraft, including flushing crankcases, cleaning screens, greasing moving parts, and checking brakes.

Conducts orientation and on-the-job training for employees, ensuring that training is documented in employee training records.

Enforces company policies and safety regulations, ensuring the proper use of equipment and that quality standards are met.

Coordinates the activities of workers, including assigning work duties for optimal manpower utilization and analyzing and resolving work-related issues.

Maintains communication within the area of responsibility, keeping employees informed about plans and progress while promoting teamwork and cooperation.

Marginal Job Functions:


May be required to assist the Controller in managing the aircraft visibility work boards and/or work booths that indicate remaining work and work-in-progress.

Tracks time spent on each work order and ensures accurate logging on time cards.

Provides recommendations to management to enhance productivity, increase efficiencies, or reduce costs.

Performs the duties of A&P Supervisor in their absence.

Engages in maintenance duties away from the base on temporary assignments.

Performs maintenance work such as repairing and maintaining company equipment and shop cleaning.


Additional duties not listed within the position description may be required at the discretion of department management.

Job functions may vary due to irregular working conditions or multiple shift positions.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Ability to organize and plan work while adhering to deadlines; attention to detail and mathematical skills; ability to read, write, and comprehend the English language and to follow and administer verbal and written instructions; ability to interpret and apply technical data; ability to safely operate a standard shift automotive vehicle and other applicable equipment; ability to work independently.


Education/Training:
High School diploma or equivalent required. Education or training in aircraft maintenance or a combination of education, training, or experience is required.

Experience:
Three to five years of experience in aircraft maintenance preferred, with prior supervisory experience.

Certificates/Licenses:
A&P License and a current driver's license are required.
