Position Summary

The primary role involves executing tasks related to the servicing, repair, and overhaul of aircraft and their components, parts, and accessories.

Work Environment

Physical Requirements: The position necessitates prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and walking. Frequent bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, kneeling, balancing, and reaching above shoulder height are required. Occasional crawling, climbing, and lifting or carrying weights up to or exceeding 75 pounds is expected. Adequate eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity are essential, along with corrected vision and hearing within normal ranges.

Equipment Utilized: Operates aircraft ground servicing equipment such as tugs, tractors, hi-lifts, trucks, servicing carts, test equipment, hand tools, rivet guns, and drills.

Work Location: Aircraft maintenance hangar and flightline.

Potential Risks: May encounter high noise levels, extreme temperature variations, materials listed on Material Safety Data Sheets, work at heights, or around moving machinery; entry into aircraft fuel tanks.

Required Safety Gear: Goggles, safety glasses, face shields, ear protection, aprons, gloves, safety harnesses, and breathing apparatus.

Key Responsibilities

Core Duties:
  • Investigates technical data and conducts disassembly, repair, cleaning, adjustment, assembly, testing, and calibration of aircraft components and specialized tools in accordance with maintenance manuals, FAA regulations, and company policies.
  • Repairs, replaces, and reconstructs aircraft structures including wings and fuselage, as well as functional components such as rigging, surface controls, plumbing, and hydraulic systems.
  • Interprets manufacturers’ and airlines’ maintenance manuals, service bulletins, and specifications to assess the feasibility and methods for repairing or replacing defective components. Completes necessary documentation upon removal of units from aircraft.
  • Inspects turbine blades for cracks or defects.
  • Disassembles and examines parts for wear or other issues.
  • Repairs or replaces defective engine components and reinstalls engines in aircraft.
  • Adjusts, repairs, or replaces electrical wiring systems and aircraft accessories.
  • Performs additional tasks to service aircraft, including flushing crankcases, cleaning screens, lubricating moving parts, and checking brakes.
  • Secures the signature of a certified mechanic on work documentation upon completion of tasks.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Ensures proper documentation of training received is recorded and signed by the appropriate authority.
  • Engages in maintenance tasks for company equipment and assists with shop cleanliness.
Safety Management System (SMS) Responsibilities
  • Actively participates in and promotes safety initiatives and compliance with safe work practices.
  • Reports hazards, unsafe practices, and incidents immediately.
  • Adheres to all safety regulations, FAA guidelines, PPE requirements, and equipment operation protocols.
Additional duties may be assigned at the discretion of management. Job functions and responsibilities may vary due to changing work conditions or shift assignments.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Strong organizational and planning skills; attention to detail; proficiency in mathematical concepts; ability to read, write, and comprehend English; capacity to interpret and apply technical data; ability to operate standard shift vehicles and other relevant equipment; capability to work independently or as part of a team.

Education/Training: High School diploma or equivalent is required. Post-secondary education or training in aircraft maintenance or a related field is preferred.

Experience: A minimum of three to five years of experience in aircraft maintenance is desirable.

Certificates/Licenses: An Airframe License and a valid driver’s license are mandatory.
