Position Overview:

As a Principal Mechanical Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in providing technical leadership and mentorship to our mechanical engineering team. Your expertise will ensure the highest quality in all engineering endeavors while assisting in the development of project fees.

You will collaborate closely with project managers to meet delivery objectives, manage project manhours, and align client expectations. Depending on project requirements, you may also take on the role of Project Engineer.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute complex engineering tasks with precision and efficiency.
  • Design advanced HVAC systems for various applications, including healthcare facilities, laboratories, and specialized environments such as data centers and clean rooms.
  • Prepare engineering calculations, material takeoffs, estimates, and designs for HVAC documentation.
  • Utilize HVAC load analysis software effectively; familiarity with tools like Trane Load Design and Trane Trace is advantageous.
  • Ensure compliance with the International Mechanical Code (IMC) and Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC).
  • Knowledge of LEED requirements and certification is preferred.
  • Conduct energy audits and perform energy calculations, developing actionable plans based on findings.
  • Assist in existing building commissioning and understand standard commissioning practices.
  • Provide technical guidance to CAD designers, drafters, and junior engineers on projects.
  • May be required to provide professional engineering seals and signatures as necessary.
  • Advise senior management on engineering-related matters.

Preferred Qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, along with 10-15 years of relevant experience. Professional Engineer registration is mandatory.

Experience in energy efficiency engineering for buildings or industrial applications is essential, with a preference for candidates holding a Certified Energy Manager (CEM) certification.

Skills and Competencies:

Proficiency in CAD and Microsoft Office software is required.
