Lead Systems Architect

The Capital Area Division (CAD) of Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA) is in search of a dynamic and driven Senior Systems Engineer to aid the Navy in the advancement and implementation of state-of-the-art high-performance computing (HPC) software and network frameworks. This role will support the Office of Naval Research and the Naval Research Laboratory, offering flexibility for remote work when permitted.

In this role, the ideal candidate will be responsible for:

  • Overseeing and facilitating the daily operations of a diverse Linux/Unix research environment, which includes extensive memory HPC systems, HPC clusters, high-speed networking, and storage solutions.
  • Designing, developing, installing, testing, and maintaining HPC computing resources and systems.
  • Delivering essential infrastructure support.

Required Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • TS clearance with SCI eligibility.
  • Several years of recent and relevant experience in system and network administration support.
  • Proficiency in enterprise Linux/Unix administration.
  • Strong understanding of IT infrastructure servers, their configurations, and associated protocols.

Desired Qualifications:

  • A Master's degree in statistics, computer science, data management, database structures, or a similar discipline is preferred.
  • Experience in Navy program research and development.
  • Familiarity with RHEL, CentOS, and Solaris operating systems.
  • Knowledge of kernel performance tuning.
  • Understanding of DISA STIG compliance.
  • Programming skills in C.
