Position Overview:

As an AWS Cloud Software Application Developer, you will be instrumental in the design, development, and maintenance of scalable cloud-native software applications utilizing the AWS platform.

Role Summary:

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in software development within an AWS Cloud environment. This role is distinct from traditional DevOps or Cloud Engineer positions.

Project Description:

This initiative focuses on modernizing the Criminal Justice Exchange Program, facilitating data sharing among various agencies and jurisdictions. The objective is to transition from the existing SoftwareAG-centric solution to a Cloud Native architecture on AWS, enabling efficient data movement and consolidation for participating counties. The integration will involve third-party vendors and state and county systems, leveraging current APIs and web services to enhance the modernized solution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and deploy cloud-native applications on AWS, utilizing services such as Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, and S3.
  • Implement serverless architectures through AWS Lambda functions, primarily using Python.
  • Build and orchestrate workflows with AWS Step Functions and AWS State Machines.
  • Design and implement SOAP-based web services using relevant technologies.
  • Create and manage custom headers for web services to ensure security and data integrity.
  • Utilize MTOM attachments for efficient binary data transmission in web services.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Product Owners and Scrum Masters, to refine user stories and deliver iterative solutions.
  • Maintain code quality and performance through automated testing and adherence to best practices.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues across development, testing, and production environments.
  • Stay updated with AWS services and best practices, sharing knowledge within the team.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Proven experience in developing software applications in a cloud environment.
  • Strong understanding of cloud computing principles and practices.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS services, particularly Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, and S3.
  • Proficiency in Python; familiarity with additional programming languages is advantageous.
  • Experience with AWS Step Functions and State Machines is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and the SCRUM framework.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Developer) are a plus.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
  • Familiarity with containerization (e.g., Docker) and orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes).
